  • Business promotion aimed at onshore businesses and tourism
  • Business and nutrition legislation as well as labour-market legislation 
  • Development of crafts and the events/adventure industry
  • Promotion of exports of ice and water as well as administration of the Ice and Water Act
  • Secretariat services for the Business and Competence Development Council (EKUR)
  • Regional policy cooperation, including the Nordic Atlantic Cooperation (NORA) and Vestnorden
  • Consumer policy matters
  • Subsidies for business, industry and tourism 
  • Service contracts with the Greenland Tourist and Business Council (GTE) and Greenland Development (GD) 
  • Labour market planning
  • Coordination regarding the employment service
  • Competence development regarding the labour market
  • Coordination of labour market policy initiatives to combat unemployment
  • Occupational safety and health legislation
  • Export licences
  • Veterinary matters

Bureau of Minerals and Petroleum

Areas of responsibility:

Administration of the Mineral Resources Act regarding minerals in Greenland 

  • Preliminary surveys
  • Exploration surveys
  • Exploitation licences

Authority tasks and regulation within the minerals area, including for the following areas:

  • Technical production conditions
  • Safety
  • The environment
  • Exploitation of resources
  • Fiscal aspects linked to royalties etc.

Supervisory authority for:

  • Nalunaq Gold Mine A/S
  • Seqi Olivine Mine A/S
  • 38 exploration licences regarding hard minerals 
  • Encana Corporation’s Atammik exploration and exploitation licences
  • Encana Corporation’s Lady Franklin exploration and exploitation licences 
  • About  20 prospecting licences

International promotion/marketing of Greenland’s hydrocarbon and minerals potential (trade fairs, direct marketing visits etc.)

Organisation of licencing rounds for the oil/gas area
Secretariat of the Joint Council on Minerals and Petroleum in Greenland
Resort authority for:

  • NUNAOIL A/S
  • NUNAMINERALS A/S
  • Greenland Resources A/S

Participation in a number of projects under The Arctic Council
Continental Shelf Project
Ujarassiorit/the minerals hunt
