New Nanoq Launched

Focus in the new Nanoq is to make it as user-friendly as possible. Users will be able to find information quickly and efficiently. Access to information is now possible through subject areas rather than in the previous system, where Nanoq was based on the organisation of the Greenland Home Rule. This meant that users needed prior knowledge of which ministerial area the required information belonged to. At the same time the new Nanoq will allow the Home Rule Government to profile various political areas of initiative more visibly than has been possible in previous versions of Nanoq.gl.

In the new Nanoq.gl we are also trying to increase openness regarding the legislative initiatives being taken within the Home Rule. The hearing portal is a new functionality, incorporated at the request of the Home Rule Parliament. This will allow interested members of the public, enterprises and organisations digital access to bills and replies to hearings which will ultimately come to affect the life of every single citizen. With their excellent proposal, the Home Rule Parliament has made it possible for the public to take part actively in legislative initiatives and thereby they can also be part of developing our young democracy.

Another new functionality is the ”RSS system”. This system means that it is now possible for our users to subscribe to news from the Home Rule Government and have it delivered direct to their mail box. This only requires that the user has an RSS-reader on his computer. Most modern computers come with an RSS reader, or you can download one from the internet.

Another important goal of the new website is to profile Greenland as an Arctic society in dynamic development. We are doing this through the modern and attractive design of the website, which we hope reflects more than just the scenic beauty of Greenland. In fact we are a small society which is constantly moving towards new goals.

We are always working to improve the Nanoq website and of course this is in close collaboration with users. Users have always been kind enough to point out mistakes on the website, as well as congratulate our successes[i], and we hope very much that you will continue to do so; after all we are here for your benefit.
