The national flags of the international representatives have already begun flying along the road up to the Home Rule, and guests and dignitaries are flooding in from all corners of the world.
The Danish Queen and Prince, the Danish Crown Prince and Crown Princess, the Danish Prime Minister, 17 ambassadors as well as other foreign guests and more than 70 members of the press have arrived in Nuuk. Greenland is ready to commence the festivities.
Tomorrow morning, the Premier Kuupik Kleist will meet the 17 ambassadors.
Self Government Day is being celebrated on the Greenland National Day on 21 June and it will start at the Colony Harbour at 8.00 am. To mark the occasion, cannon will salute the Royal guests, as well as the foreign guests and the introduction of Self Government. Premier Kuupik Kleist will hold a speech and the Nuuk choir will sing one of Greenland’s national musical pearls, ”Nuna Asiilasooq”.
The Royal family will be received officially at the Colony Harbour by the Premier, the Chairman of the Home Rule Parliament, and the High Commissioner. Afterwards there will be a church service at the Cathedral.
The highlights of the celebrations of Self Government will be when the Greenland Self Government Act is presented by Her Majesty Queen Margrethe to the Chairman of the Home Rule Parliament in the Landstingssalen.
Thirty years ago Her Majesty presented the Greenland Home Rule Act.
All the events will be transmitted live on the Greenland national television channel, KNR-TV.
